Our group survives on the hard work of our dedicated committee and the goodwill of our wonderful members. Our committee is a small handful of current members of the Golden Triangle Girls, kindly volunteering their time to help out. Every WI needs to have a named President, Treasurer and Secretary in order to run, as set out by the National Federation of Women’s Institutes.
We meet collectively every first Thursday of the month for official business, and keep in touch via WhatsApp in-between. We plan our meetings and fundraising events, off-shoot groups and other activities we may be involved with. We also engage with our members and community, and discuss ways we can help with various causes.
If you would like to join the committee or help in any way, please speak to one of us or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for more info. We’re always keen for fresh ideas and new skills anyone can offer; however big or small. Just an extra pair of hands in general is always welcome! 🙂
I’m Gemma, the current President of the Golden Triangle Girls WI, having been a member for about eight years. I’m proud to be a part of this amazing girl gang for the friendship, laughter, and the varied meets throughout the year!
Outside of the WI, I am passionate about Italian cars, having driven my classic Alfa Romeo to Italy. I love my cats, and the Welsh rugby team too. I’m also known for my love of gin, leopard print and innuendos!
I’m Emily and I’ve been a member for quite a few years and have recently joined the committee. Previously I was a member of East End WI in London.
I live with my husband and two retired greyhounds in Sprowston. I’m a civil engineer and I work on the railway. I’m also a Major in the Royal Engineers Reserves.
I enjoy films, cooking and outdoor activities. I like being in the WI to make friends and share new experiences.
My name is Rosemary and I’m the new Treasurer for this year. I have been a member for about five years and on the committee for three years.
My interests are quite varied – I workout at the gym at least 3 times a week. I love gardening and I actually grow quite a lot of my plants from seeds and cuttings. I also enjoy reading and I am a member of the Book Club. I like going to the Theatre, mostly to see Ballet and contemporary dance. I do quite a lot of travelling – nearly always to somewhere hot and sunny.
I’m Sue. I discovered the GTGs in 2018 and joined the committee as Secretary in 2019. I help to manage correspondence, maintain our membership records, and generally muck-in where needed. I joined the WI as a way to meet new people in the City and I couldn’t have hoped to meet a nicer group of ladies.
I enjoy walking, gardening and researching my family history, and I’m currently learning Italian. Ciao!
I’m Margaret, and I joined GTGs during lockdown in 2020, and recently joined the committee. I help out with sorting out the programme and generally mucking in with making bookings etc. I’m a keen member of the Book Club and have promised to lead some country walks soon.
I’m an author and creative writing tutor and writing is my passion. When I’m not doing that I love getting out and about for walks with my dog, reading and making collages and painting in my studio.
Hi! I’ve been a member since 2013, and joined the committee not long after. I also served as President from 2016 to 2019! I help to co-ordinate the yearly programme of events, fundraisers and speakers, as well as helping out with our off-shoot groups and social media presence. I joined the WI because I love a chat and enjoy learning new things (with wine); so much that I joined twice – I’m a dual member with Swallowtails WI in Sprowston!
I like books, history, walking and penguins.
Hello! I’m Roxy, Vice-President of the Golden Triangle Girls! I joined the WI at the end of 2016 as a new mum in need of some “me time” again. It’s all exceeded my expectations and it’s great to be around such a wonderful group of inspiring women. I’ve been on the committee since the start of 2019 and dabble with various aspects of the GTGs. I’m often behind our social media content, and enjoy thinking of new ideas to help with The WI campaigns, as well as organising fun events for our programme.
Aside from the WI stuff, I’m a mummy to a human child as well as a little tortoise. I’m a lover of all things novelty sized (away with the fairies), charity shopping and causing mischief. Mr Bean is my spirit animal!
